Feline Friday

Cupcake loves my treadle!
I set this bowl on the floor for a moment to pull out the other bowls I have to set inside it in the cabinet.  I wasn't quick enough, She thought it made a great bed!  LOL
I had used it to soak my corn on the cob before I grilled them.

How do you like to grill your corn?

I have been having difficulties with my commenting on other people's posts coming up as a no reply, thought I fixed it and then messed up commenting on my blog.  I think I fixed it, but please let me know if you are having problems.  Thanks!

Sewing Class - Library Bags

Last week my small class made library bags!  It actually took them two weeks.  Zoe came to class Monday with all of her material for her apron in her new bag!
She has a great eye for color and putting things together.
I accidently forgot to have Alayna cut the straps on her bag, so they are too long, but it makes a great crossover bag!
She loves working on her hand crank!

Caitlyn was not able to finish her bag in class, she finished it at home.  I'll get a picture of her with her bag next week!  Yes, Cupcake was hanging out in class with us.

Pippi comes down and sews with us also!  Monday, I only had one girl.  One was at church camp and the other was sick.
Zoe was able to finish her apron.  She did a great job picking out colors again!

What are some of your favorite sewing projects for little girls?  We only have one summer class left.  This Fall we will move our classes to Friday mornings, unfortunately I will lose one student because of school.  The other ones don't have school on Fridays.  We will start a quilt.

Have a great day everyone!

Don't forget to let me know if you would like to host a virtual Pampered Chef party!

Quilt Guild

I had quilt guild last Thursday.  These are the finished purses from my class I took.  She is offereng another class next week for those who could not come before.
This is Ellen, the teacher, with a purse she made.
Here is one of the beautiful quilts that were shared, I thought I had taken more pictures but they were blurred!
I am on the program committee for the new year to help with the new programs this year.  This is something totally new for me!

I'm glad i found a local quilt guild!

Feline Friday Cats on Quilts

I have not had much time to sew, but I am determined to get this quilt done so I moved it to the living room.  (Excuse the mess!)  My cats sure do like having it in there!

New Purse

I finally have a finish!  We had a sewing day and Ellen helped us make this purse last Saturday.  The pattern is Candice by Lazy Girl Designs.   A friend had given me a $15 gift card for Joann's, all I had to buy was the typewriter fabric and the pellon foam.  Everything else was in my stash.  So I spent $3 plus $2 for the big zipper at my LQS, Dogwood Quilting, and $2 for grey thread.
Ellen, on the left, was our teacher helping us make our purses.  Pat, on the right, made the pretty purse below.  I can't wait to see the finished purse tonight at quilt guild.  She used a heavy home deco fabric.
I didn't finish mine.  The inside of mine is pink.  I made my first inside pocket.

I forgot to put interfacing on the linings, so my zipper was wonky.  Ellen is my neighbor and she made me redo the lining on Monday, LOL.

We used Pellon fusible foam to make it stiff.  I needed heavy interfacing for my pockets only to find out what I  had in my stash was not fusible.  I pulled out the glue stick!
I went to Ellen's house Wednesday morning and Tuesday morning to finish my purse.  When I left yesterday, I had just a few things left, like top stitching the edge and adding the finished handles.  I had to put my machine at the edge fo the table to do the top stitching.
I wish I had made the pockets lie flat.  I thought I would give them room for more stuff, but it just made too much bulk inside.  It's a learning process.
Here is the back of my purse.
This purse is the perfect size for me to carry my agenda and when I get one, my tablet.  Making it a lot easier to carry business supplies when I do a Pampered Chef party for one of my hosts.  I am really happy with it!  My husband even said "that looks like a professional purse!"  The front is a pocket!

Have you made this pattern?  I know Ellen said that she had changed some of the directions because she has made a lot of these purses for all of her relatives.

Sewing with little girls - Pillowcases

Last week we finished our pillowcases, my girls were so excited!  I have two ten year olds and an eleven year old in my class.  They picked out their material and brought it to class.
Here is Alayna with her pillow case.  I'm not sure you can see the cute anchors on the blue and the pink fabric.

Her mom helped her with finishing it at the end of class.
Caitlyn made hers out of fleece, what a cozy choice!
Zoe did a super job on her pillow case too!
They don't have to worry about losing their pillows at sleepovers now!  I still need to make myself a pillow case!
Of course we can't sew without help from one of the cats, this time it was Custard.

I forgot to take pictures yesterday, but we got our fabric cut for library bags and will finish them next week.

What is your favorite project for beginning sewing?  Next we will make a half apron, anyone have a super simple tutorial?

Have a great day!

Feline Friday

I have a lot of cat pictures to share today!  I hope you are ready for an extra dose of cuteness!
Cupcake wanted a belly rub!  She has such a fat belly!
Muffin thinks the Papasan chair is his!  He sits and waits for whomever to get up then he is right back in his chair.
Look what came in the mail!  Pampered Chef sure has some cute kitties!  Custard doesn't quite fit though.
Oreo was helping me fill out my agenda for Pampered Chef parties.  I do not have any parties scheduled after July 15.  I would love to have a Facebook, catalog, or live cooking show party with you!
They love the fresh catnip on the deck!

What kind of pet do you have?
